Science Demos

Make An Impact
Planetary Body Surfaces

This messy demo creates a hands-on experience for kids to understand the surfaces of planetary bodies. First, try throwing a "meteor" into each surface and see if you can make a crater. Next, get up close and feel each surface and try to figure out why the surfaces create different imprints.

Concepts: Material Science, Planetary Science, Astronomy, Physics

Signature by the Sky
Star Orientation Visualization

This demo helps us understand our place in the universe. Our night sky, or the celestial sphere, is signature to our location. To us, stars look mapped onto a 2D sphere. In this demo, you will see the 3D nature of the stars and the universe and just how weak our eyes are. You will see depth, colors, and learn about the famous twinkle (twinkle, little star...).

Concepts: 3D Depths, Star Composition Chemistry and Evolution, Distance Measurements

Solar System 2.0
Exoplanets

This demo interactively shows how we discover planets outside our solar system, exoplanets: extra-solar planets. You will learn about the 5 methods of discovering exoplanets and get to try out one of them for yourself. You will also learn about light, atmospheres, and the potential for aliens!

Concepts: Light Physics, Transits, Data Methods and Research, Atmospheric Chemistry and Spectroscopy, Astrobiology

I have created hands-on demos that can go along with textbook concepts. I believe it is best to learn by doing, seeing, and having concrete examples of worldly uses. Please contact me if you would like to use this content or if you have textbook chapters or concepts you would like me to create a demo or experiment for.
I also design posters for science concepts and already have them for these demos, please just ask if you would like to use them.
